What an amazing two months we’ve had! Since the last newsletter in April we’ve won three awards, entered a couple more and celebrated our 10th birthday with a party at the salon - it was good we had the bank holiday to recover!ll!
News in Brief
On our party evening we held a raffle to win lovely goodies from Sebastian and have raised £400 for charity. Thanks to everyone who bought a raffle ticket - all proceeds will go to Troop Aid at Selly Oak Hospital.

Trio of Awards
We're delighted to have won three regional titles.Winners of the L’Oreal Colour Trophy 2010, winners of the Redken NYC Hair Awards 2010 and winners of the Wella Trend Vision 2010! We're now taking a quick breath before it all heats up again at the finals. Read more on our blog.

Sun, Sea & Sand
With summer here it can only mean one thing; holidays! And while the sun, sea and sand are perfect holiday ingredients they are unfortunately not so good for our hair. Like your skin, hair needs protection and nothing delivers this better than Redken's Colour Extend Sun Care range
- an absolute must-have for anyone exposing hair to the sun. Find out about the exciting new range here on our blog.

Top Tips for Summer Hair
1. Before swimming wet hair thoroughly with clean water – this means your hair can only absorb a limited amount of chlorine when in the pool
2. Use products formulated for sun care like Redken's Colour Extend Sun Care range
3. Wear a hat
4. Tie hair up in a ponytail
5. Liberally apply a spray-on, leave-in conditioner like Redken's Colour Extend Sun Highlight Guard
6. Book in for a shot treatment on your return to replenish the hair’s condition
7. Be careful exposing your scalp with partings - use Redken's Solar Screen with an SPF 10
8. Don’t braid hair as it's exposing more hair and more scalp resulting in sun damaged hair and a burnt scalp!

GHD’s New Range

The new GHD'S have landed in the salon and we love them! In a range of vibrant colours the GHD’s come in Red Lust, Blue serenity, Green Envy & Purple Indulgence and all come with a matching quilted heat resistant pouch & a black case. Retail price £129.

Product of the moment
We love Batiste dry shampoo, as used on SATC2, just spray it onto your roots, massage it into the scalp & brush it out, not only does it refresh & cleanse the hair between shampoos, but why we like it, is the texture it gives when creating different looks, so much so that we're stocking it as of June, £2.29 a bottle or £ 1.29 for a handy travel size. Every session stylist’s secret weapon!

Favourite Things
1. Sex & The City 2 (of course!)
2. Maxi dresses with Kurt Geiger clogs
3. Fresh Lemon & ginger tea, served with runny honey
4. Magnum Gold
5. Kate Moss' Summer collection for Top Shop
6. Big blow-dry's (bring back Dallas!)
7. Mini Heat-waves
8. Urban Tribe style Turbans to protect hair from the sun
9. Spellbound
10.Cup Cakes - so Carrie-esque!

 10th Birthday Celebrations

Well first of all we were delighted to celebrate our 10th anniversary with so many of our wonderful clients.
Back in 2000, when we opened, it was just Adrian, myself & Paula and we could not have imagined how much Aesthetics would have grown. It’s with immense pride that our 10th year is fast becoming our most successful as we celebrate being Winners of three prestigous awards. None of this would be possible without our amazing team and our fabulous clients; so many of you have become our friends, sharing the milestones in each other’s lives and supporting us with your loyalty. When we push ourselves to grow & learn within our industry we can then deliver back to you...fabulous hair, new ideas & advice to keep you looking amazing!

A big thank you goes to Redken, Sebastian and Wella for their ongoing support and party contributions and a huge thank you goes to all of you who shared our celebrations and to everyone who’s helped Aesthetics become the salon it is today.

Love Sarah x

Salon Star

aesthetics solihull.jpgNot only were we celebrating 10 years of Aesthetics, but also 10 years of Paula - my right hand woman! When she started working with us she was a skinny 20 year old doubling up as a junior and assistant technician. Under Adrian’s guidance I've watched her grow into our most talented colour technician and blossom into a sophisticated woman, while always remaining my very good friend. To thank Paula for her dedication to Aesthetics and her passion to be part of our growth we presented her with a week-long stay in London to attend an advanced colouring course with Redken. Paula, I know you're going to come back & amaze us with what you will have learnt and on a personal note we wish you only happiness for the next 10 years and more. x

Hair and the City

Unless you’ve walked around with your eyes and ears shut you’ll know that the girls are back in town. And with closets, or in this film, suitcases full of fabulous clothes, shoes and Birkin bags it’s no surprise that we’re falling over ourselves to step into the Jimmy Choos of the fab four and emulate their chic, effortless style in one way or another.  So while we can’t promise you cosmos and choos, we can tell you how to get the look

Carrie: The Style Setter
Carrie’s look is bang-on trend with grown-out-highlights as spotted on Alexa Chung, Jessica Biel and Billy Piper. It is carefully created to give a ‘not-trying-too-hard’ look that is going to be big this summer. Her bold but natural colouring can be achieved with rich glossy semis and creamy blonde, honey or caramel highlights applied to create a veil around the face to frame and give a youthful appearance. Carrie’s look is a very flattering example of colouring, exaggerating & enhancing how the sun would naturally lift our hair, while her long layers allow Carrie's curls to move freely whether it's dried straight or curly.

Samantha: The Blonde Bombshell
She may be the more mature one of the four but Samantha.jpgher alluring, provocative style makes her one of the most glamorous, age-defying women on our screens. Samantha’s California blonde  hair adds to her youthful appearance and can be emulated with an all over high lift tint broken up with highlights using Redken's Blonde Glam pure lightening cream, which is ammonia free to lift with out compromising on condition. Samantha has gone for a LOB - that's long bob, this is a great haircut for creating the glamour of long hair, the edgy ease of short hair & with just the right amount of 'rootage' this is a fail- safe cut that suits anyone. Think Michelle Pfeiffer in Scar face, although Samantha wears her hair way blonder to suit her image.

Miranda: Fiery Redhead

Miranda’s strong, sleek bob in vibrant copper tones makes for a simple but effective style and it’s great to see her returning to her bold, auburn, Florence-esque colour.  As a professional career woman Miranda demands a cut that is quick and easy to style and with her fine, straight hair a geometric cut with just a few layers to frame her face is perfect for women short on time. Only 2% of the population are natural red heads and Miranda isn’t one of them, but her skin tone suits the fiery colour while her strong personality marries the vibrancy perfectly.

Charlotte: Rich Chocolate

The brunette of the group Charlotte’s style has not a single hair out of place perfectly reflecting her neat, organised demeanour. What Charlotte’s style lacks in boldness it makes up for in condition, thickness and the beautiful velvet colour. Being a brunette she has a natural shine, but she’s likely to have had a semi-permanent colour to enhance the shine and give depth. This style is perfect for medium to thick hair and can suit most face shapes if the long layers are adapted to frame the face or a long sweep fringe is cut in.
